2 steps forward, 1 step backward.

As you can see, Maryam is back on oxygen. Don't be too sad though, we never really expected her to come home on room air. It would be nice, but not expected at all! Her average oxygen saturation during her 12 hour trace was 94%. The docs want her to be between 96%-100% to stay on room air. So, they started another trace at 1pm at 125 mils per minute, or 1/8 of a liter. If she does well enough on this trace, they'll do another 12 hour trace tomorrow at 50mils per minute.

She has discovered her syringe!! Maryam keeps pulling her legs up and trying to kick it or pull it with her feet! Its cute, but dangerous!!! We've been trying to tie her legs down with her blankets because if she pulls it out, she'll be back in surgery again. It makes her happy to play, so we're just careful to make sure that she doesn't actually pull it out.

Her feedings are going REALLY well. Today her feedings started at 75 mils (2 1/2 ounces) every 3 hours and she took them all down in about 6 or 7 minutes. Tonight they increased them to 90 mils (3 ounces) every 4 hours and then we'll be working up to 110 mils (just over 3 1/2 ounces) in increments of 5 mils per feeding, every 4 hours. The goal is for her to get to 120 mils (4 ounces) every 4 hours. Wish her luck!!! Her tummy will need to do lots of stretching and her lungs probably won't have the endurance, but that's what the feeding tube is for!! All in all, today was a GREAT day for her. She's very happy and her tummy is finally full! Don't get me wrong, she was kicking and screaming when her nurse tried to put that cannula back on her! She was not going down without a fight!!! She is known around the nursery as being one of the biggest fighters they've ever seen! But its for her own good and one day, she'll understand that. But seriously, isn't she freakin' adorable?

PS. Congratulations to my cousin Anna on "learning a little bit about the computer!" We've been reading everyone's comments and we think they're GREAT! We really do have an amazing family!

And speaking of family, we have VERY EXCITING NEWS!!! Sarah and Scott are expecting their daughter Charlie Mae Haston via C-Section tomorrow at noon! Have them in your prayers! (I'm sure I'll have pictures of her on here tomorrow!)
